| I bought this fish feeder just over a year ago for my fresh water fish tank. It was easy to set up and worked great until recently. Without warning, the unit began only turning 1/3 to 1/2 revolutions instead of an entire revolution...the result was that while I was away it only fed my fish once every few days even though I had it set to feed them twice a day. (it also had fresh batteries in it before I left). Being an Engineer, I took a look inside and found that the internal relay contact had gotten corroded. I sprayed WD-40 in it and it worked fine for another few weeks. Then it stop working entirely. This time, the battery contacts had corroded. The unit is not sealed against water moisture and the internal metals are corrosion prone. If it gave a warning that it was no longer working, I would have had the opportunity to buy another unit to keep the food flowing...as it was, it failed without warning, and a few of my fish died. :( |
